Even though we as the Palmetto Moon team cannot win the Ultimate Oyster Lover contest, we wanted to share a photo with you that we would submit: the Guy Harvey and Palmetto Moon Coastal Conservation Association of South Carolina trailer you helped us raise money for last summer!
We were so honored to be a part of these efforts. Did you know that one of the uses of this trailer is for oyster shell pick-up by the CCA SC’s Topwater Action Campaign? The group takes oyster shells from oyster roasts to recycle, which helps ensure that we have oysters to enjoy in the future. The recycling effort is crucial because as waterways become clean again, oyster shells will be recycled, quarantined, cleaned and then deposited back into the creeks. This helps create habitats for other fish, oysters and shellfish to live and grow in once again.
You can help by recycling your oysters the next time you have an oyster roast! For more information and to get involved with the CCA SC, visit the website.
